Elina Svitolina

Elina Switolina (Ukrainian Еліна Світоліна; * September 12, 1994 in Odessa ) is a Ukrainian tennis player.

Career

At the age of five years Switolina started with the sport of tennis. She loves playing on grass courts.

On June 6, 2010, she won the junior competition at the French Open by defeating in the final Ons Jabeur from Tunisia 6:2, 7:5.

In 2010 she won at the side of her compatriot Kateryna Kozlova her first title on the ITF Women's Circuit. In 2011 she made her first individual title at the ITF tournament in Lagos and Istanbul.

Her first title on the WTA Tour Switolina secured in November 2012 at the Challenger tournament in Pune. In La Marsa (Tunisia ), and Telavi (Georgia) this success was preceded by two other ITF singles titles. In January 2013, it was successful in Eilat (Israel ), both in single as well as double. With their single title, it improved in the Top 100 in the WTA world rankings. In January 2014, it climbed by an advance into the third round of the Australian Open - her best ever performance at a Grand Slam tournament - already 38th place
