Defender of the single were Roger Federer in the men's and Svetlana Kuznetsova in the women. In the men's doubles were Lukáš Dlouhy and Leander Paes, in women's doubles Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual, the defending champion. Liezel Huber and Bob Bryan were the defending champions in the mixed doubles.
Winner of the men's competition was Rafael Nadal, who was thus able to win the tournament for the fifth time. In the women's singles Francesca Schiavone won and celebrated the first Grand Slam singles victory of her career and the first Grand Slam title of an Italian in singles. The men's doubles Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic decided for themselves, the women's doubles won Serena and Venus Williams. The title in mixed doubles Katarina Srebotnik and Nenad got themselves Zimonjić. The title of junior secured Elina Switolina from Ukraine.
