Defender of the single were Rafael Nadal in the men's and Justine Henin in the women. In the men's doubles were Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi, in women's doubles Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez, the defending champion. Daniela Hantuchová Fabrice Santoro and were the defending champions in the mixed doubles.
For the first time in the history of the discharged since 1891 French Open, the opening game was held on a Sunday.
In the Men's Singles Rafael Nadal won in women's singles and Justin Henin- Hardenne, who gave no record during the tournament for the second time in a row. In the men's doubles Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi victorious for the second year in a row, in women's doubles Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur. The title in mixed doubles Katarina Srebotnik and Nenad Zimonjic won.

The title in the juniors won the Slovak Martin Klizan which prevailed in the final in straight sets 6:3 and 6:1 against Philip Bester ( Canada).
Junior Women Individual
In the Junior Women Pole Agnieszka Radwańska the prevailed. In the final she won in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 against Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Sergejewna.
