Andrei Pavel

Andrei Pavel ( born January 27, 1974 in Constanta, Constanta county ) is a former Romanian tennis player.

Career

Pavel moved to Germany in 1990 and joined the same year the professional tennis at. His first major successes came in 1992 when he won the junior tournament, the French Open and reaching the semi-finals at the junior tournament at Wimbledon.

So far, Pavel won three individual titles in his career: 1998 in Tokyo, 2000 in St. Pölten and 2001, the Rogers Masters in Montreal / Toronto. His best finish to date in the tennis world ranking he reached in October 2004, with rank 13

Pavel is married since 19 August 1994. With his wife Simone and their two children, he lives in Borgholzhausen.

After a long injury break, he made it back to the ATP tour and went to the Australian Open 2009. He was forced to retire due to injury, however, in the first round against Andy Murray. He said after his career ended.
