Barcelona Open (tennis)

The ATP Tournament Barcelona ( Barcelona officially open BancSabadell, previously Torneo Open Sabadell Atlántico and Godó ) in Barcelona, Spain, is a tennis tournament which is held every year since 1953 in April or May on sand. It is one of the oldest tournaments in Europe and after the Madrid Masters, the Spanish major tournament, currently part of the ATP World Tour 500, the second highest category tournament of the ATP Tour. The venue is the Reial Club de Tenis Barcelona.

Record winner of the tournament with eight titles is Rafael Nadal, whose original tennis club Reial Club de Tennis Barcelona ( and Real Club de Tenis Barcelona Spanish ) is. Having to 2009 five titles in succession he had in 2005 to win, he said 2010 from his participation. 2011, 2012 and 2013, he won the tournament again. In a double record holder is Roy Emerson with seven titles.

The tournament is dominated by Spanish players. Since 2003 always won by a Spaniard; the last final without Spanish participation was in 1996, when the Austrian Thomas Muster won against the Chilean Marcelo Rios. Overall, there was eleven times to an all-Spanish final, only eight times since 2001.
