Life

Anabel Medina Garrigues, the daughter of Manuel and María José, began at the age of seven years with her family playing tennis. She has an older brother, José Manuel.

Career

So far Medina Garrigues won on the WTA Tour (as of Feb. 10, 2014) eleven singles titles and 18 doubles. Five of their eleven successes in individual it secured in Palermo and three in Strasbourg. Your highest position in the WTA world rankings they reached in May 2009 with Rank 16 Your best result at a Grand Slam tournament was the first knockout round of the Australian Open in 2002.

In double Medina Garrigues was the number 3 in the world in November 2008. Your greatest achievements came at the side of Virginia Ruano Pascual, with which they 2008 and 2009 in Paris each won the title of the French Open. 2008 Medina Garrigues also earned the silver medal at her side in Beijing at the Olympic Games. At the U.S. Open she could reach 2012 again the semi-finals in doubles, but with its Taiwanese partner Hsieh Su -wei they defeated the Czech pairing of Lucie Hradecka and Andrea Hlaváčková with 6:72 and 4:6.

In the spring of 2013, the sum of the prize money won by Medina Garrigues crossed the milestone of 5 million U.S. dollars.
