Emmanuel Kipchirchir Mutai

Emmanuel Mutai Kipchirchir ( born October 12, 1984 in Uasin Gishu ) is a Kenyan marathon runner.

In 2006 he won the Nice Half Marathon. In the Conseil Général du 10 km, he finished second and the Rotterdam Half Marathon sixth. The following year he was fifth at the Lisbon Half Marathon and seventh at the Rotterdam Marathon. A massive improvement he succeeded in the fall with victories at the Portugal Half Marathon and the Amsterdam Marathon, which he won in 2:06:29 h. This was the second fastest time of the year behind the world record time of Haile Gebrselassie.

In 2008 he was third in the 20 van Alphen, fourth in the London Marathon and won the Great Scottish Run. At the Chicago Marathon he made long for a fast pace, but then fell back to fifth place. 2009 was sixth at the Lisbon Half Marathon and remained in fourth place in the London Marathon for the third time under 2:07 hours. In a marathon, the World Athletics Championships in Berlin he won in 2:07:48 h the silver medal behind compatriot Abel Kirui, and the Portugal Half Marathon, he finished second.

2010 followed a third place at the Lisbon Half Marathon each second place at the London and the New York City Marathon. The following year, he finally managed to win the London Marathon. He improved the course record and personal best to 2:04:40 h

Although typhus in March 2012, he finished the London Marathon that year following the seventh rank.

The 1.62 meter tall Mutai, who is coached by Renato Canova, was also in the squad of the Kenyan team for the 2012 Summer Olympics, finishing in London on the Olympic marathon route to 17th place.
