Lisbon Half Marathon

The Lisbon Half Marathon ( Meia Maratona de Lisboa Portuguese ) is one of the largest and most important athletic half-marathons worldwide. He has been held since 1991 in Lisbon, usually in March.

The start is on the Ponte 25 de Abril. From there it goes to the north in the district of Alcântara and then a turning point distance eastwards along the Tagus, which includes a loop to Rossio, Praça da Figueira and Praça do Comércio. At km 18, the bridge was started on the under crossing to the west. The goal is to Praça do Império before the Jerónimos Monastery. Since the track has a net drop of 69 meters above sea level, it is not suitable for records or leaderboards. To remedy this situation, there since 2008 for a separate elite runners start at sea level.
