Engin Ä°pekoÄŸlu

Engin İpekoğlu ( born June 7, 1961 in Izmir, Turkey ) is a former Turkish goalkeeper and current coach.

Playing career

He began his football career at the Austrian club SV Prater in 1978. Five years later he moved to the youth of Sakaryaspor. After three seasons İpekoğlu moved into the first team and was in season 1987/87 Turkish Cup winners. For the 1989/90 season Engin İpekoğlu went to Beşiktaş Istanbul. With the black and whites of the goalkeeper twice Turkish champions, 1990 and 1991. Moreover, he again won the 1990 Turkish Cup with Besiktas.

After his second league title in 1991, he went on to local rivals Fenerbahce. There İpekoğlu instantly became a goalkeeper and played up to his injury against Kayserispor in the 1994/95 season in that role. After his injury he was only second choice. He became the third and last time Turkish champions Fenerbahçe 1996. Then he left the blue - yellow and went to Çanakkale Dardanelspor. For Dardanelspor İpekoğlu guarded the gate three years. In 1999 he returned to Fenerbahce. In his final season with the Fenerbahçe goalkeeper played seven games and finished his playing career in 2000.

Coaching career

His coaching career began as an assistant coach Engin İpekoğlu of Raşit Çetiner in the Turkish U -21 national team. After Raşit Çetiner 2004/ 05 Coach of Bursaspor was İpekoğlu followed him. In 2010 İpekoğlu was on the side of Guus Hiddink assistant coach of Turkey and worked in this position until December 2011.

For the 2012/13 season, he took over the Turkish second division club Denizlispor. The Executive Committee was after 9 Gameday announced the dismissal İpekoğlus. The reason they gave to the disappointing start to the season from the team perspective.

End of November 2013, he was head coach of the second division Fethiyespor.
