Enniscorthy

Enniscorthy ( Irish: Inis Córthaidh; German "Island of Rocks ") is a town in County Wexford in the south east of Ireland.

With a population of 9289 persons (as per Census 2006) Enniscorthy is the second largest city in the county. The place is home to the St. Aidan 's Cathedral, the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Ferns.

Enniscorthy is situated on the River Slaney, 24 kilometers north- west of Wexford, on the N11 from Dublin to Wexford. About the N30 Enniscorthy is connected to New Ross and Waterford in the southwest. In addition, Enniscorthy is connected via the rail network (Dublin Wexford Rosslare Harbour ) to the sea and air transport.

The portal tomb of Bally Brittas is located 4.6 kilometers south-west of Enniscorthy and 300 m north of the regional road R127.
