Enter, Netherlands

Enter ( Low Saxon: Eanter ) is a place west of Twente in the Dutch province of Overijssel. The village with about 7,500 inhabitants belongs to the municipality wierden and lies between Almelo, Goor, Bornerbroek and Rijssen.

History

The story of Enter dates back to about the year 1200, when the name was mentioned for the first time enter in writing. In Enter especially geese were previously grown and manufactured wooden shoes, the clogs. In addition, enter in the 18th and 19th centuries a center for the construction of small barges, the Zompen. Many buildings and houses of that time have been canceled in recent years to make room for new buildings.

Development

The town of Enter is very grown in recent years in terms of population and expansion. New Area de Goorens was planned by Enter in the direction toward Goor and Bornerbroek and built in 1980 in a short time. Many roads in this area were named after old farms in the neighborhood of Enter, such as erve Smedinck, erve Effinck and other similar names. In 2007, the planned development area de Akkers is almost finished with about 100 apartments. In the years 2007 and 2008 is due to start in the north of the village toward wierden with the development area de Berg Horst. In comparison with some of the surrounding communities in Enter many residents belong to the Roman Catholic Church or are non-denominational. Other faiths as Roman Catholic or Protestant are perceiving only a little, because very few foreigners live in Enter

The Gereformeerde Kerk and the Dutch Reformed community have joined the management community of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands ( PKN ) on 1 May 2004.
