Épiais-Rhus

Épiais - Rhus is a commune with 649 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise of the Ile- de -France region; it belongs to Arrondissement Pontoise and Canton Marines. The inhabitants " Epiais - Rhussiens " or " Epiaises - Rhussiennes " call themselves.

Geography

The community Épiais - Rhus is located 35 kilometers northeast of Paris. It is located in the Regional Natural Park Vexin français.

Neighboring communities of Épiais - Rhus are Grisy -les- Plâtres the northwest, Theuville in the north, Vallangoujard in the east, in the southeast and Livilliers Génicourt in the south.

History

Gallo - Roman remains bear witness to an early settlement of the place. On the 50 -acre excavation area which is partly in the town of Vallangoujard, remains of a theater, the thermal baths, a Roman temple, a forum, a necropolis and other buildings were found. The small finds are in the Musée du Departmental Archaeological Val-d'Oise in Guiry -en- Vexin.
