Erick Wainaina

Erick Wainaina ( Eric Wainaina, born December 19, 1973 in Nyahururu ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner, who won an Olympic medal in the marathon twice.

At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he finished third behind with only eight seconds behind the winner Josiah Thugwane (RSA) and five seconds on the Second Lee Bong- ju (KOR ) ​​. At the games in Sydney in 2000 he was second behind Gezahegne Abera ( ETH). In his third Olympic marathon, he came at the 2004 Games in Athens to seventh place.

Other successes are three victories at the Hokkaido Marathon ( 1994, 1997, 2003), two victories at the Nagano Marathon (2000, 2003), winning the Tokyo International Women's Marathon in 2002 and a fourth place finish at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. In 1998 he won the Sapporo half Marathon.
