Erkan Özbey

Erkan Özbey ( born February 10, 1978 in Rize, Turkey) is a Turkish football official and former football player. Due to his longstanding involvement for Bursaspor and Gençlerbirliği Ankara, he is associated with these clubs. For the latter team, he was also active for a long time as team captain. After the end of his playing career he became the club president elected on his last club Kizilcahamamspor and has since been working in this office.

Erkan Özbey began with the club football in the youth department of Bursa Merinosspor. In 1995 he was admitted to the then third division in the squad of the professional team. After he was active here until the summer of 1995, he moved to first division side Bursaspor. As both teams are located in the same city and did not play in the same league, they are minded benevolent. So Özbey was found to be insufficient for Bursaspor and loaned for one season to Merinosspor. After this loan period you gave him for the season 1997/98 to the first division Kardemir Karabükspor. Here he played a successful season and took his team to the end of the season ninth place in the table. Returned to the summer of 1998 to Bursaspor, was taken by the former coaching staff in the team squad. With the expiry of his contract in the summer of 2003 he moved to league rivals to the capital club Gençlerbirliği Ankara. In this club Özbey was promoted to team captain and played here a total of six seasons. During this time Özbey reached the 6th place in the table with his team for the season 2004/ 05 the fifth place in the table and the following two seasons. In the seasons 2003/ 04 and 2007/ 08 they reached the finals twice Turkish Football Cup, but lost both finals.

For the summer of 2009 he left after six years of service Gençlerbirliği and moved within the province of Ankara to Kizilcahamamspor. Here he was three years in Squad and then ended without a competitive game use to have completed his active professional footballer career.

National

Özbey ran 19 times on Turkish U -21 national team. He and his team took the first time in history the Association at a U -21 Football Championship, U-21 Championship in 2000, in part. Here one difference however already in the group stage.

After he made ​​his debut for the second selection of the Turkish national team in September 2002, he was nominated two months later as part of a friendly match against the Italian national team in the Squad the national team.
