Ankara Province

Ankara is a province of Turkey. Its capital is the city of Ankara.

The province has 4,890,893 inhabitants ( 2011) on an area of ​​25,708 square kilometers. Of these, nearly 5 million people, only 3% live in villages ( village highway under 2,000 inhabitants ) and small towns ( Belde, 2000-20000 inhabitants). The population density is 190.25 inhabitants / km ².

It borders the provinces of Konya, Aksaray, Kırıkkale and Kırşehir, Bolu, Düzce and Eskişehir.

In the district of Çankaya is the official residence of the President of Turkey, the Çankaya Palace.

Geography

The Ankara Province is located in the Central Anatolian plains and is surrounded by forested mountains in the north and in the south from the arid plains of Konya. The flat land is traversed by the river systems of the Kizilirmak and Sakarya and has several lakes. Half of the land is used for agriculture, while the forests and grasslands make up 28 % 10%. In the south of the province, the Lake Tuz, one of the saltiest lakes in the world. The highest point in the province is at 2,051 meters, the mountain Işık. The climate is hot, dry summers and rainy in spring and autumn. Winter is snowy and cold.
