Kilis Province

Kilis is a Turkish province in the southeast of Asia Minor, situated on the border with Syria. Its capital is the same Kilis. She is an independent province since 10 June 1995. Neighboring province of Gaziantep. Kilis is part of the Turkish part of the Kurd Dagh. Before the First World War Kilis was economically and culturally connected to the Syrian cities today Afrin and Aleppo.

The population consists mainly of Turks and Kurds. Kilis has an area of 1,642 km ² and a population of 124 452 in 2011 ( 2000: 114 724; 2005: 101 169; 2007: 118 457 )
