Ermin Å iljak

Ermin Šiljak ( born May 11, 1973 in Ljubljana ) is a former Slovenian football player. The striker, who won the 1996 title of the Slovenian scorer in the Slovenska Nogometna League, won during his career twice the Slovenian and once the Swiss national champion. With the Slovenian national team, he participated in the European Championship in 2000.

Career

Career Start in Slovenia

After Šiljak had started in his hometown at the NK Ilirija playing football, he made his debut for local rivals NK Svoboda in the adult area. After he had drawn attention to himself there, he changed the course of the season 1993/94 within the city limits to the first division SCT Olimpija Ljubljana. With his new club, he quickly established himself as a regular scorer and placed with 19 goals this season behind Štefan Škaper second in the scorers in the league. Years abroad

Šiljak had attracted attention outside the country through his goal threat and his international appearances with Olimpija Ljubljana in the European Cup and the national team of his native country. In summer 1996, he joined the French Division 1 and signed a contract with SC Bastia. On the side of Morlaye Soumah, Wilfrid Gohel, Franck Vandecasteele and Anto Drobnjak he belonged in the following two years regularly in the squad the team, but came short a time, the status of the makeup player also.

During the winter break of the season 1997/98 Šiljak left France and joined the Servette FC Genève in the first Swiss league. In the following year he took a with the club in the European Cup, he nevertheless decided to change clubs. Since he regularly came into existence in qualifying for the European Championship in 2004 as a goal scorer, to a variety of clubs interested in him.

New employer Šiljaks was the Chinese club Dalian Shide. With four goals by the end of the season he reached the third place in the first Chinese league with the team. After the club did not pay him, he returned to Europe in 2004 and signed in early 2005 a contract with Belgian club Excelsior Mouscron.
