Errevet

Errevet is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Errevet situated at an altitude of 386 m above sea level, about nine miles northwest of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the southern foothills of the Vosges, in the gently undulating countryside on the western edge of the basin Giromagny, the Savoyard, a source stream of Lizaine. It is located in the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

The area of ​​3.28 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the southern Vosges foothills. The main part of the territory occupied by the gently undulating landscape, which is on average 380 m. It is drained by the headwaters of the Lizaine to the southwest. In hollows and valleys there are several ponds that were once created for fish farming. The land is used predominantly agricultural, but there are also some smaller forest areas. To the north, the municipality's area stretches up the wooded Mont Vieilley, which leads on to the hilly Bois de Lachapelle. Here the highest elevation of Errevet is achieved with 511 m. The municipal area there in front of red sandstone from the Permian.

Neighboring communities of Errevet are Lachapelle- sous- Chaux in the north, Évette - Salbert in the east, Frahier -et- Chatebier in the south and Plancher -Bas in the West.

History

Is first mentioned in 1394 under the name Les Errevet Revets. In the Middle Ages, the village of Abbey Lure, which granted some freedom rights of the population in 1552 belonged.

Population

With 239 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Errevet one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 225 people were still counted ), was from 1975 to 1990 again recorded a strong population growth.

Attractions

The Chapel of Errevet was built in 1830 and has a baroque altar.

Economy and infrastructure

Errevet was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and the fish embossed village. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about eleven miles. Another road connection with Champagney. North of the village runs the railway line from Belfort to Vesoul, but there is no train station here.
