Clairegoutte

Clairegoutte is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Clairegoutte situated at an altitude of 330 m above sea level, 10 km east-southeast of Lure and about 18 km west of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the eastern part of the department, in the valley of the Clairegoutte, at the western foot of the heights of the Chérimont.

The area of ​​10.48 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of southeast of the level of Lure. The western part of the area occupied by the basin of the Clairegoutte that provides for drainage southwest to Rognon. The Alluvialniederung is on average 320 m. This area is used primarily for agricultural purposes.

To the east, the municipality's area extends over the densely forested western slope of Chérimont up on the summit, on the 589 m the highest elevation reached by Clairegoutte. Are the sources of Clairegoutte and its tributaries at this slope. The slope is divided by several gullies. With a long narrow edge of the municipality ground enough south on a well wooded foothills of the Chérimont (up to 521 m ) between the ravines of the Ruisseau de Fau and his side stream Ruisseau des Battants. In geological- tectonic terms, the grounds of red sandstone of the Lower Triassic is built. In the ravines also Permian strata emerge.

Neighboring communities of Clairegoutte are Magny- Danigon and Champagney in the north, Étobon in the east, Belverne, Lomont, Frédéric -Fontaine and Magny- Jobert in the south and Andornay in the West.

History

The area of Clairegoutte was probably brought under cultivation in the 8th or 9th century. By the year 1331 the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Then it came to the County of Montbéliard. In the further course Clairegoutte was repeatedly drawn by fires and wars affected. In 1341 it was set on fire in 1439 ravaged by the Écorcheurs to 1480 by Charles the Bold destroyed, plundered again in 1583 and eventually affected by a plague epidemic in 1635. In 1541 Clairegoutte was elevated to a parish. With the occupation of the county of Montbeliard the village came in 1793 final in French hands. Especially in the 18th and 19th centuries Clairegoutte was known for its cherry production. Today Clairegoutte is a member of the nine- villages municipal association Communauté de communes Rahin et Chérimont.

Attractions

The Lutheran village church originally dates from the Middle Ages ( 12th century ), but was largely rebuilt in 1734 and is now classified as a monument historique. The bell tower was added in 1777. The Catholic chapel Saint -Bernard was built in 1962. The nail makers and the oil mill were built in the 18th century. Additional area attractions include the building of the Mairie -École ( local government and school) of 1844 as well as eight wells from the period 1875-1880, including the Fontaine- Lavoir de la Cure with the bust of the pastor DG Durot.

Population

With 403 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ) is Clairegoutte to the smaller communities of the department of Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1881 539 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Clairegoutte was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today there are various businesses of the local small business sector. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration of Belfort -Montbéliard.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Ronchamp to Villers Exel. Further road links exist with Magny- Danigon and Frédéric -Fontaine.
