Erwin Kohn

Erwin Kohn ( born December 20, 1911 in Baden (Lower Austria ), † March 18, 1994 in Mar del Plata) was an Austrian table tennis player. At the World Championships 1936 he was a member of the champion team.

Career

Erwin Kohn played since 1926 with the club TT Casino Baden AC. 1930, 1931 and 1933, he was Austrian champion in singles.

From 1929 to 1937 he took part in the World Championships eight times. He was in 1936 with the Austrian Men 's Team World Champion. 1929 and 1934 he took silver in the team competition, 1932, 1933 and 1935 bronze. More bronze medals he won in 1932 and 1935 in single and double in 1933 with Paul Flußmann.

The main success applies Kohn's victory in an international tournament in Riga, in which he gave the then reigning World Champion Victor Barna defeated in the final.

After the World Cup in 1936 Kohn reduced its training effort. In June 1937, he emigrated to Buenos Aires. Between 1940 and 1952 he was eight times champion of Argentina.

2012 Erwin Kohn was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
