The Estadio Palogrande is a football stadium in the Colombian city of Manizales, capital of the province of Caldas. It is the home of the football club CD Once Caldas ( Corporación Deportiva Once Caldas)

History

On July 30, 1994, the Estadio Palogrande with the game CD Once Caldas against the Brazilian team Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte, Cruzeiro won 5-2 which was inaugurated. It replaced the 1936 completed and 1992 demolished Estadio Fernando Londoño Londoño y with 16,000 seats. The stands of the sports facility are fully covered and have 36 553 seats. Between the stands and the pitch a cinder track runs. The name Palogrande (German: big pile ) leads back to a large tree; which stood on the present stadium land in the 1930s.

For the Copa America 2001 some renovations were carried out. The CD Once Caldas in the Copa Libertadores in 2004 reached the final ( return match ) and took effect on 1 July 2004 in the appendix to the return match against the Argentine team Boca Juniors to the CA. The first leg finished 0-0 after regular time and it was 1-1. Once Caldas won 2-0 on penalties and won the Copa Libertadores for the first time. For the U-20 World Cup in 2011, the stadium is renewed. The disability places on the north stand is extended; stadium capacity drops to 36 112 places. There are additional changing rooms built, installed new scoreboards and a new lawn is laid. The total financial volume of the renovation is estimated at 18 billion Colombian pesos (about 7 million euros ).

The stadium is adjacent to the sports as a venue for concerts.
