Eucalyptus eremophila is a flowering plant within the myrtle family ( Myrtaceae ). It occurs in the south of Western Australia, where it is "Sand Mallee ", " Tall Sand Mallee " or " Eastern Goldfields Horned Mallee " called.

Description

Appearance and leaf

Eucalyptus eremophila grows in the habit of Mallee Eucalyptus, this is a habit that is more shrub-like than tree-like, there are usually multiple strains available that form a Lignotuber or reached a tree, the growth heights of up to 2-8 meters. The bark is smooth on the whole tree and gray - brown, brown or yellow. In the marrow of young branches, there are oil glands, but not in the bark.

In Eucalyptus eremophila is available Heterophyllie. The leaves are always divided into petiole and leaf blade. The petioles are narrowly flattened or channel-shaped. At middle-aged specimens, the leaf blade is elliptic to ovate, straight, entire, dull and gray-green. The on upper and lower sides of the same color glossy gray - green leaf blades of adult specimens are narrow lanceolate or elliptic, relatively thick, straight, taper towards the Spreitenbasis back and its upper end may be acute, obtuse or rounded trained. The barely visible lateral nerves go from an acute or very acute angle from the midrib. The cotyledons ( cotyledons ) are in two parts.

Inflorescence and flower

Constantly on a page with a width of up to 3 mm in cross section, narrow flattened or angular inflorescence stem are about three to siebenblütige part inflorescences in total composite inflorescences. The flower buds are beaked and not blue green flour dusted or frosted. The sepals form a calyptra, which drops early. The smooth calyptra is beaked, three times as long as the smooth flower cup ( hypanthium ) and narrower than this. The flowers are white, cream, yellow, pink or red. The heyday of Western Australia extends from August to December.

Fruit

The fruit is cylindrical, pear - shaped or bell -shaped. The disc is pressed, the fruit of subjects stand out.
