The teaching and research operations began in 1976. Most of today's EU Member States participate in the Graduate Institute.

Orientation

The faculties of the European University Institute cover the following range of subjects: economics, history, political science, law and social sciences. In all these subjects is an approximately four-year doctoral program with completion of Ph.D. offered in trade law since 1984 and a one-year master's program. In principle, only postgraduates are permitted. The doctoral program in Economics is a partner in the European Doctoral Program in Quantitative Economics.
