Évires

Évires is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Évires is located 825 meters above sea level. Level, about 18 kilometers north- northeast of the town of Annecy (air line). The scattered settlement municipality extends on the high plateau of Bornes, above the valley of Daudens, between the Salève in the northwest and the Bornes Alps in the southeast, in the eastern Genevois.

The area of ​​19.49 square kilometers municipal area includes a portion of the area of ​​the Bornes Plateau. The southern part of the area is drained by the Daudens and its side streams in forested erosion valleys southwest to Fier. History

The territory of Évires was inhabited already in prehistoric times, which could be based on various findings, including a bronze bracelet, occupied. Évires is, however, only in 1275 first mentioned. The name goes back to the Old French word eve (water).

Attractions

The village church of Évires was built in the Gothic Revival style. In the town there are two museums, namely the Musée de l' Outil (tool museum) and the Musée de poterie traditionnal savoyarde ( traditional pottery ).

Population

With 1327 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Évires one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region. In the first half of the 20th century, the population increased continuously (just like in 2004 1259 inhabitants in 1901 counted Évires ) from. Economy and infrastructure

The village is located off the major thoroughfares, but can be easily reached from the main road N203 that runs from Annecy over the Bornes Plateau to La Roche- sur -Foron. The nearest links to the A41 motorway, which runs through the municipality, is located at a distance of about ten kilometers. Évires also had a station on the railway line Aix -les- Bains- Annemasse.
