Groisy

Groisy is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Groisy is located at 740m above sea level. Level, about 14 kilometers north of the town of Annecy (air line). The scattered settlement community extends a scenic location on the southern slopes of the plateau of Bornes, between the valleys of Usses and Filière, in Genevois.

History

The territory of Groisy was already in the Neolithic period, during the Roman period and the time of the Burgundians settled. The name goes back to the Gallo-Roman family names Grossius and means of Grossius estate. In the Middle Ages Groisy was the center of a small rule, which was the property of the Sales family of Thorens.

Attractions
