Ewert Karlsson

Ewert Karlsson ( born November 6, 1918 in Mogata; † January 5, 2004 in Huddinge ) was a Swedish artist and one of the leading cartoonists in Sweden. His signature was the EER.

His style was detailed, worked through and compressed at the same time powerful and with a train towards the grotesque. His scribe met exactly the point, funny, but at the same time thoughtful and of great social pathos. One of his cartoons from 1980 shows Sweden as a ship "MS SVEA " in rough seas. At the helm, or better, at the oars, fighting the three Conservative party leader Gösta Bohman, left, Thorbjorn Fälldin, center, and Ola Ullsten who then together formed the government, while opposition leader Olof Palme " Neptune sacrifices ".
