Eystur Municipality

The Eysturkommuna is a commune of the Faroe Islands on the east coast Eysturoys.

  • Population: 1,977 (as of 1 January 2011)
  • Locations: Leirvík ( 876 ) Norðragøta ( 609) Syðrugøta ( 417) Gøtugjógv (43) and Gøtueiði (32 )

On 1 January 2009, the Eysturkommuna was re-established through the merger of the former municipalities Gøta and Leirvík.
