FC Politehnica Iași

Politehnica Iaşi was a Romanian football club from Iaşi.

History

Politehnica Iasi was founded on 27 April 1945 by students of the Technical University of Iasi as Sportul Studenţesc and on May 31 in Sportiva Politehnica Iaşi ASOCIATIA (ASP Iaşi; German sports club University of Technology ) renamed. The team first started in the second-rate Divizia as 1948 the name was changed again - this time in Clubul Sportiv Universitar Iasi ( Iasi CSU; German University Sports Club ). In 1949, CSU merged with the Workers' Sports Club. A year later, the club name was then changed to StiinTa Iaşi ( German Studies). The club played at this time still in the top tier of Divizia B, but the rise was not successful. On August 1, 1958 StiinTa concluded with the Railwaymen's sports club CFR Iasi to Clubul Sportiv Muncitoresc Studenţesc Iaşi ( CSMS Iaşi; German Student Workers Sports Club ) together, some of the players joined the newly founded club Unirea Iaşi.

In 1960 CSMS succeeded for the first time jump into the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A, but increased in 1961 already again. After the immediate resurgence succeeded CSMS, to last for several years in Divizia A. In the 1965/66 season the team finished even the 6th place, but rose a year later again. On October 10, 1967, the club changed its name to Politehnica Iaşi. After climbing 1968 Poli remained until 1985, almost entirely in Divizia A - apart from the Game 1972/ 73 and 1981/82 - but never got beyond the eighth square. In most cases, the team fight to the final day for the league.

After descending 1985 Poli succeeded for the first time not the immediate resurgence. First, the team failed in second close, but fell in the 1988/89 season in midfield Divizia B back. After a 2nd place in 1993/94 achieved during 1995 the rise. Although the team had just occupied the third place in the series I Divizia B, Poli nevertheless participated in the Relegation against Corvinul Hunedoara in part because the Dacia Unirea Brăila runner-up was not admitted to relegation, as he had tried the game against Poli to buy. The team was relegated in 1996 but after only a year again.

After the descent we took Poli further down. This development reached its peak in 2001, when the club, which now Fotbal Club Politehnica Iasi Municipal called himself, with only 9 points first descent into third-rate Divizia C. To avoid a points deduction, then merged with local rivals Poli Unirea Iaşi 2000 and changed his name to Clubul Sportiv Poli Unirea Iaşi. This was followed by a steep climb. After the immediate return to the Divizia B succeeded in 2004, the rise in the Divizia A. In the same year, the club changed its name again in FC Politehnica Iaşi.

In early July 2009, Petre Grigoraş, the former coach of Oţelul Galaţi, obliged as the new head coach. This had to mid-April 2010 to resign for health reasons and was replaced by Dumitru Dumitriu. Under Dumitriu Politehnica managed not a single win in their last seven Premier League matches more, so it was clear in the Liga II that after the 2009/10 season the descent. Then the debt of three million euro club went bankrupt and was dissolved in July 2010, so that the athletic relegated Dinamo Bucharest II were allowed to remain in the League II.

The tradition designation Politehnica wore thereafter in August 2010, was established under the name ACSMU Politehnica Iasi club in the name that originated from the fusion of the second division Tricolorul Breaza and the fifth-tier Navobi Iaşi and 2010/ 11 in Liga II in place of the also for financial reasons League operating excluded FC Baia Mare took. In early July 2011, named this association in accordance to the most successful team in the history of the city in CSMS Iaşi ( Clubul Sportiv Municipal Studenţesc Iaşi ). As a new coach Marius Baciu has been committed but after just two league games and a cup game broke up his contract and was replaced 30 August 2011 by Ionut Popa.
