Felipe Fernández García

Felipe Fernández García ( born August 30, 1935 in San Pedro de Trones, † April 6, 2012 in San Cristóbal de La Laguna ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of San Cristóbal de La Laguna Tenerife o.

Life

Felipe Fernández García received on 28 July 1957 in Plasencia ordination. In 1958 he graduated in theology at the Pontifical University of Salamanca and 1960 in Social Sciences at the Roman Pontifical Gregorian University.

He was from 1960 to 1965 Vicar of the parish of St. James in Don Benito, Badajoz and an adviser to various movements of Catholic Action. He was also from 1960 to 1965 professor at the Colegio Público de Plasencia. From 1965 to 1969 he was deputy editor of the journal Pastoral Misiones. From 1968 to 1976 he was Professor of Sociology, Catholic social teaching and pastoral theology at the seminary of the Diocese of Plasencia. From 1969 to 1976 he was Vicar of Pastoral Plasencia and from 1972 to 1976 professor at the Pontifical University of Salamanca.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 22 October 1976 for the Bishop of Ávila. The Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, Luigi Dadaglio, donated to him on 28 November 1976 in the Cathedral of Ávila episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Maximino Romero de Lema, secretary of the Congregation for the Clergy, and José Delicado Baeza, Archbishop of Valladolid.
