Festroia International Film Festival

Festroia - Festival Internacional de Cinema de Troia, also known as Troia International Film Festival is a film festival that takes place annually in the Portuguese city of Setúbal. It specializes in films from countries that produce less than 30 feature films a year.

History

The festival was first held in 1985 on the Troia Peninsula. From the beginning of the Golden Dolphin (Portuguese: Golfinho de Ouro ) was awarded the main prize of the international competition. In 1987, added a FIPRESCI Award of the Film Critics Association Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique. Since 1988 Festroia is as accredited until today the only film festival in Portugal in the international film producers association FIAPF - as a festival with specialized international competition. This was accompanied by the restriction of competition in international films from countries that produce less than 30 feature films each year. Opened in 1989, the festival 's film market " Filmerca ". In 1995, the festival moved to Setúbal and eventually got yet another venue in Almada.

Today Festroia has several sections, including a competition for independent American films. On various other film festival prizes will be awarded, such as a Golden Dolphin for a life's work.
