Flag of the Governor General of Canada

The flag of the Governor General of Canada was introduced in 1981. Depicting the crest of the Canadian national coat of arms on a blue background a crowned golden lion standing on a red- white Helmwulst and holding a yellow edged, red sugar maple leaf in the right front paw. The aspect ratio is 3:2 to 2:1 to land and water.

Use

The governor-general flag takes precedence over the national flag. In contrast, it is in the protocol-related ranking behind the Royal Standard of the monarch and behind the flags of the Vice- Governors of the provinces in their residences or if the Governor-General, in an official act of a Lieutenant-Governor as a guest.

Former flags of the Governor General
