Flagler Beach is a city in Flagler County in the U.S. state of Florida with 4,484 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Flagler Beach is located on the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. The city is adjacent to Beverly Beach, located about 10 km east of Bunnell and about 100 km south of Jacksonville.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 4,484 inhabitants distributed to 3,439 households. The population density was 472 inh. / Km ². 97.1 % of the population were white, 0.8 % African American, 0.3% Native American and 0.6 % Asian Americans. 0.1 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.0% of different ethnicities. 2.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 44.4 % of all households lived in 13.2 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 54.0 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 1.90 persons and the average family size is 2.45 people.

11.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 12.9% were 20-39 years old, 33.4 % were 40-59 years old and 42.1% were at least 60 years old. The median age was 57 years. 48.6 % of the population were male and 51.4 % female.

The average annual income was $ 44,292, while 8.9 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 95.10 % of the population spoke Spanish 2.45% and 2.45 % spoke German.

Traffic

Flagler Beach is traversed by the Florida State Roads A1A and 100. The nearest airport is Daytona Beach International Airport ( around 30 km).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 157 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the low range. There was a robbery, seven injuries, 40 burglaries, 94 thefts and seven car thefts.
