Flash of Genius (film)

Flash of Genius is an American film drama from the year 2008. Directed by Marc Abraham screenplay by Philip Railsback based on an article by John Seabrook in The New Yorker.

Action

Professor Robert Kearns developed in the early 1960s, the intermittent wiper. The auto companies implement the invention without paying Kearns. Kearns sued Ford Motor Company; his friend Gil Previck and his attorney Gregory Lawson support him. Kearns wants to force the group to publicly confess guilty of intellectual property theft.

The legal fight burdened marriage with the professor Phyllis and parenting. Kearns suffers a nervous breakdown and is unemployed. His marriage ends in divorce.

Reviews

John Horn wrote in the Los Angeles Times, 1 September 2008, the film show more than just a David -versus -Goliath court battle. And he will teach a person to whom fairness and honesty more than anything else would mean. Kearns is not a " classic Hollywood hero."

The organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival wrote, the film provokes thought. They praised the script as well as the representations of Greg Kinnear, Lauren Graham, Dermot Mulroney and Alan Alda.

Background

The film was shot in Toronto and Hamilton ( Ontario). His cost of production was estimated at 20 million U.S. dollars. The magazine Variety was one of the film in March 2008 on those releases of the year, which would have particular views of awards.

The world premiere took place in late August 2008 at the Telluride Film Festival. On 7 September 2008, the film at the Toronto International Film Festival was shown. On 3 October 2008, the film opened in theaters in the USA, on 25 June 2009 came the film in theaters.
