Fleurey -lès- Faverney is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Fleurey -lès- Faverney situated at an altitude of 258 m above sea level, 7 km north-northeast of Port- sur -Saône and about 15 km north- northwest of the city of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in an elevated position on the edge of the plateau south of Talniederung the Lanterne and east of the Saône.

The area of ​​11.29 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the upper Saônetals. The western part of the municipality is occupied by the valley of the Lanterne. The Alluvialniederung is on average 215 m and has a width of approximately three kilometers wide. Former sand and gravel pits north of the Lanterne are filled with water and used for water sports. The municipal area extends to the edge of the vast Forst Bois des Balières.

History

The area around Fleurey been inhabited since prehistoric times. First mentioned the village in the 12th century under the name of Beza Floriacus in the chronicle of the monastery. In the Middle Ages Fleurey belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The jurisdiction of the village held the monastery Faverney. In 1638 Fleurey was hit by a plague epidemic. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In the 18th century, iron ore was mined in the area. With the opening of the tram of Faverney after Amance Fleurey -lès- Faverney 1911 was connected to the network of public transport. Attractions
