Fleury Di Nallo

Fleury Di Nallo ( born April 20, 1943 in Lyon ) is a former French footballer.

Club career

The striker came as a 17 -year-old for the first time at Olympique, the club of his birthplace, in Division 1 for use, gave it as a complement to the experienced striker Eugène Njo - Léa equal a good figure, but kept the club during the following 14 years, the loyalty. He soon got the affectionate nickname "The Little Prince by Gerland ," which was also alluded to his rather lanky stature. Di Nallo was technically adept, fast and full of ideas, but had problems because of his athletic deficiencies in a fitted duel. Nevertheless, he was incredible goal threat and formed in the first half of the 1960s, together with the storm tank Nestor Combin an effective dual leadership, the opposing defenses could crack. At the end of the 1961/62 season he first appeared near the front between the French first division goalscorers on (5th place with 18 goals ), while his club only narrowly avoiding relegation. Also 1965 ( 13 goals ), 1966 (15) 1967 ( 14 ), 1968 ( even 3rd place with 18 goals ), 1971 (though 21 goals this season ranged "only" for 5th place, but signified his best result of the season ), 1972 and 1973 ( each 17 results) he was one of the most successful scorers. He is on the 8th place in the list of the most successful D1 goalscorers of all time to this day. Olympique Lyon, however, remained in the championship a " gray mouse ": 1973 /74 in last season at the Stade Gerland Di Nallos, managed the club at least once to be third in the table; until then a fourth place (1963 /64) was the highest placing in the career of the striker. The ruthless Tackling an opponent brought him in September 1968 a double fracture of tibia and patella, as well as a more than ten -month break; his return, he was crowned with two goals in a league game against the SEC Bastia.

In the cup competition, however, Fleury Di Nallo could hold harmless with his team for the loss of title. Although Olympique failed in the final in 1963 still scarce - after a 0-0 AS Monaco kept in the replay 2-0 the upper hand - but in 1964 it was Lyon, which won 2-0 over Bordeaux; both goals scored Combin, and then the defense had to Jean Djorkaeff hands full trying to defend their lead. In his third final - 1967 FC Sochaux was defeated 3:1 - then flipped it for Di Nallo with a final hit: two minutes before the final whistle, he made the final score. This, however, remained his only scoring in five Cup finals. In the 1971 Finals his team remained scoreless again and lost 0-1 against Stade Rennes, but in 1973 succeeded Lyon a 2-1 win over FC Nantes and Fleury Di Nallo celebrated for the third time winning the Coupe de France - on the side his new strike partner Bernard Lacombe and include a partnership with the defender Raymond Domenech.

The Lost Cup final of 1963 brought him and his club by the way a great early appearance on the European stage: because Monaco had become master of Division 1 this year, Lyon France represented in the European Cup Winners' Cup. After wins B 1913 Odense Olympiakos Piraeus was in the quarterfinals of Hamburger SV (1-1, 2-0) are off, even if Di Nallo against the North Germans not score. In the semifinals, was named the opponents Sporting Lisbon. After a 0-0 draw at the Stade Gerland Olympique succeeded in Portugal's capital surprising a 1-1 draw, which at that time had a third game on neutral ground the consequence that there was no away goals rule. The playoff lost Lyon then in Madrid - two days after a league game, and five days before the National Cup 1964 final - against eventual European champions 0-1. Di Nallo and his teammates remained the double consolation that in European competitions except Stade Reims no French club had ever got that far yet and you could win the French Cup in 1964 at the end of this grueling week.

1974/75 he unlaced his shoes for the Erstligaaufsteiger Red Star Paris - the way back to the side of his cronies Combin - but the duo was getting on in years and could not also prevent Red Star stay up the rear once again in the second division had. While Combin it at least still put on 15 goals, Di Nallo reach only a dozen inserts only five pieces of the sort that have made the " little prince " in a highly visible and durable Size in French football. 1975 brought him a friend to Montpellier La Paillade in the Division d' Honneur, at the time the fourth highest playing level. 21 Di Nallo - goals in 23 league matches contributed significantly to Montpellier promotion to the third division at. In his second season there, things went not so successful, so in 1977 at age 34 ended his active career.

National players

Between November 1962 and April 1971 Di Nallo was appointed to a total of ten international matches in the A- national team; in these encounters he scored eight goals. In his first game he scored twice in the power of the Hungarians, against which he also played his last international match. That he did not frequent, but only sporadically came there to use, lay one hand on his shape fluctuations, on the other hand also to the fact that the various national coach added during the 1960s rather on the type of robust striker and such, for example, in Gondet from Nantes and Herbin and Revelli from Saint- Étienne also possessed. Therefore, 1966 was indeed his strike partner in the club, Nestor Combin, but not the " little prince " into account in France's World Cup squad.

Life after the active period

From 1977 to 1981 worked Fleury Di Nallo, now technical director, again at Olympique Lyon, but the League remained unsuccessful, and in 1980 even in the Barrages had against second division side Olympique Avignon to avoid relegation; a cup final did not reach "his" club in those four years also. Then he tried his hand as a trainer at a modest amateur club, then got into a private crisis and with justice in conflict. From this situation, a friend took him out, which helped Di Nallo to employment in the Nachwuchssichtung and recruitment in Montpellier HSC.
