Flex (Club)

The Flex in Vienna is situated between the subway station Scots ring and Augartenbrücke music club and in this capacity venue of performances by local and international bands and DJs.

History

New Year's Eve 1989/90 Flex, operated by a group of people from the scene around the squat in the Aegidigasse, in the Arndtstraße in the 12th district of Vienna was opened. First, as a mix of underground club, punk meeting and cultural center, with a focus on concerts of hardcore punk bands. Later the club within one and a half years, moved into a disused underground shaft U4 on the Danube Canal. Construction of the new clubs cost around 11 million shillings ( about 800,000 euros ) of which the City of Vienna of 3 million shillings contributed a one-time boot subsidy ( about 220,000 Euros ). The new restaurant was opened on 1 October 1995. Additionally the " Flex" since 2007 on a porch next to the club entrance ( " Flex Café" ). Every year, the club counts around 100,000 visitors.

Program

In addition to the various fixed program rails concerts of various genres will take place mostly on the remaining days. Controversy

Over the years, the club was again in the headlines, often he is shown as a drug meeting place. Also racist door policy has been accused of Flex.
