Fontes Christiani

Fontes Christiani ( Christian source texts) is a book series, in which important Christian source texts are reconstructed from Antiquity and the Middle Ages. The texts are each bilingual - published - in the original text and the German translation. Some translations first appeared in German language. The series has been published since 1990.

Her publishers include Norbert Brox, Sigmar Döpp, Wilhelm Geerlings (1941-2008), Gisbert Greshake, Rainer Ilgner and Rudolf Schieffer. The volumes of their first and second series (of four) published by Herder, Freiburg im Breisgau, the volumes of the third row in the publisher Brepols, Turnhout, the volumes of the fourth series in the publishing house Herder again. In boards and bound editions have different ISBNs.

The published texts cover a wide range of authors from, including Caesarius of Heister Bach, Irenaeus of Lyons, Tertullian, Origen of Alexandria, Aphraates, Gregory of Nazianzus, Ambrose of Milan, Gregory of Nyssa, Theodore of Mopsuestia, Cassiodorus, John Philoponus, Peter Abelard, Rupert of Deutz and others.

Responsible for the publication of the association is to promote the " Fontes Christiani " eV, Fontes Christiani Institute, Ruhr- University Bochum.
