It was released on 12 June 2009 and went straight to number 1 on the German album charts. It also debuted at number five in Britain, the highest ranking in the UK album charts in 1988 with Stay On These Roads. Background

The production of the album began in 2006, shortly after the release of Analogue. In between the band members were also working on their own projects, which increased the production of A- ha album. The actual filming took five months for a-ha a relatively small period of time. The cover was designed by Martin Kvamme, who was involved in both previous releases of the band and also partly due to their solo releases. Keyboardist Magne Furuholmen describes the album as " an album that the key elements that have been defined at the beginning of the band combined. Ascending vocals, synthesizer hooks, yearning lyrics and melodic melancholia "
