In the 1950s, the transport activities on the Flensburg Fjord was sailing to Denmark with duty-free shopping on board, the so-called butter rides, extended. This meant that new ships were commissioned as well as additional large passenger ships that could hold up to 950 passengers acquired in the 1970s, in the 1960s. At times, led up to 22 ships through shopping trips between Germany and Denmark.
