The Fort Nelson River is a 250 km ( 517 km including the source river Sikanni Chief River) long right tributary of the Liard River in British Columbia.

It drains an area of ​​55,900 km ² and is formed by the confluence of the rivers Fontas River and Sikanni Chief River. He was named after the town of Fort Nelson and flows mainly through flat land. The most important tributaries of the Fort Nelson River are the Sahtaneh River and Muskwa River.
