Francesco de Angelis (yachtsman)

Francesco de Angelis ( born September 11, 1960 in Naples ) is an Italian sailor. He won the first Italian skipper in the Louis Vuitton Cup, the qualifying event for the America 's Cup 1999/2000 with the yacht Luna Rossa (ITA 45 ) for the yacht syndicate Prada Challenge.

Following his victory in the Louis Vuitton Cup Francesco de Angelis led the team Luna Rossa Prada in 2000 in the final of the America's Cup, in which he was 5-0 from Team New Zealand (Skipper Russell Coutts ) was beaten.

In 2003 he stood for Luna Rossa in the semifinals of the America 's Cup and was defeated in this 31 Cup Team OneWorld 2:3.
