Francesco De Nittis

Francesco De Nittis ( born July 3, 1933, Vieste, Foggia, † March 10, 2014 ) was an Italian diplomat of the Holy See.

Life

Francesco De Nittis studied philosophy and theology, and received on 15 July 1956, the ordination. After graduating from the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1959, he joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See a.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 7, 1981 for the Titular Archbishop of Tunes and Apostolic Pro- Nuncio to Papua New Guinea and Apostolic Delegate in the Solomon Islands. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli on May 2, 1981; Co-consecrators were Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy, secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and Valentino Vailati, Archbishop of Manfredonia e Vieste.

On January 24, 1985, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to El Salvador and additionally on 10 April 1986 Apostolic Nuncio in Honduras. On June 25, 1990 John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to Uruguay and took on 11 November 1999 his early resignation for health reasons to.
