Frédéric-Fontaine

Frédéric -Fontaine is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Frédéric -Fontaine is located at an altitude of 390 m above sea level, 5 km south of Ronchamp and about 18 km west of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the eastern part of the department, a scenic location in a clearing on the western slope of the island Chérimont, above the level of Lure.

The area of ​​3.48 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the south-western foothills of the Vosges. The central part of the area is occupied by a sloping gently to the west slope, which is used primarily for agricultural purposes. It is drained by the village brook, which is dammed at several locations to fish ponds, to Clairegoutte. To the east, the municipality's area extends into the wooded area in the field of Taleinschnitts the Ruisseau des Battants that belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Rognon. With 498 meters, the highest elevation of Frédéric -Fontaine is achieved on the southern slope of the Chérimont. History

Remains of a Gallo-Roman traffic route and other finds from Celtic times point to early settlement of the area. Frédéric -Fontaine was for Protestant refugees from Lorraine, Champagne and Burgundy, Franche -Comté founded on July 16, 1588, Frederick I of Württemberg, Count of Montbéliard. At this time, the place under the name Friderichsbron figured. During the Thirty Years' War, the village was devastated in 1633 by soldiers from Lorraine. In the 18th century the Anabaptist movement were settled in Frédéric -Fontaine relatives. With the occupation of the county of Montbeliard the village came in 1793 final in French hands. With 264 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Frédéric -Fontaine is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Frédéric -Fontaine was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village.
