Frederick William Freking

Frederick William Freking ( Frederick William Freking, born August 11, 1913 in Lake Huron, Minnesota, USA; † 28 November 1998) was bishop of La Crosse.

Life

Frederick William Freking received on 31 July 1938, the sacrament of Holy Orders for the Diocese of Winona.

On October 10, 1957, he was named by Pope Pius XII. Bishop of Salina. The Cardinal Bishop of Albano, Giuseppe Pizzardo, donated to him on 30 November of the same year in Rome the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Curia bishops Luigi Traglia and Martin John O'Connor. The inauguration of the Diocese of Salina followed on 7 January of the following year.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on December 30, 1964 Bishop of La Crosse. On 24 February the following year he was introduced to the office.

Freking attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as part of a Council Father.

On May 10, 1983 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation.
