Fredrik Balkåsen
Fredrik Balkåsen ( born May 13, 1989 in Falun ) is a Swedish ski jumper.
Career
Fredrik Balkåsen is the son of former equally successful ski jumper by Balkåsen. Through him he was already at the age of four years for ski jumping. Balkåsen was first used internationally at the Junior World Championships in Rovaniemi in March 2005 and took the team on the 14th and the 41st in a single place. At the beginning of the season 2005/ 06 he was first used in the FIS Cup. In Vikersund Balkåsen occupied the positions 16 and 15 was only in February he jumped internationally at the Junior World Championships in Kranj.
After a 38th place in the individual he missed the team finished ninth the second round just barely. In March Balkåsen was with the squares 47 and 48, made his debut in the Continental Cup, where he was in Lillehammer places 39 and 32 finished in summer 2006. When the FIS Cup in Örnsköldsvik him go with positions five and seven had hitherto been his best results. This winter jumped Balkåsen not regular, but occurred only at the Continental Cup in Trondheim, where he held the positions 32 and 46 occupied, and at the Junior World Championships in Tarvisio, where he was 35th at. In the summer of 2007, he finished the COC in Lillehammer places 35 and 53 and at the FIS Cup in Falun twice the 11th Place.
In the next season, he jumped on a regular basis in the Continental Cup and came four times in the second round. Garmisch- Partenkirchen with positions 30 and 29, as the 28th in Engelberg and in Iron Mountain as 26 With these eleven points was Balkåsen at the end of 123. in the overall standings. At the Junior World Championships he did not participate.
In the 2008 /09 season he participated only in a few Continental Cup, where he succeeded only in Zakopane as 23 and 30 in the second round. That was at the end of nine points and the 141st place overall. In his last Junior World Championships in Štrbské Pleso he was after a strong performance in the individual 24. In the team, there was only enough for the twelfth place and at the FIS Cup in Notodden to places ten and nine. In the summer of 2009, he just jumped at the Continental Cup in Lillehammer, where he was 45th and 48th as well as at the Fis -Cup in Falun. Here Balkåsen achieved with positions two and five very strong results.
At the start of the World Cup of the season 2009/10 Balkåsen took in Lillehammer for the first time at a World Cup qualifier in part, missed it as 62 but significantly. This season, he participated in other skills, but always failed to qualify. In addition, he finished 14th and last place in a team competition with Carl Nordin, Josef Larsson and Isak Grimholm. But they are mostly went to the Continental Cup, where he finished ninth but reached the second round only in Iron Mountain. This was also his best ever Continental Cup result. In the end, it was enough for 94th place with 29 points of Continental Cup overall standings. In the summer Balkåsen missed the second passage at each Continental Cup competitions. He also took part in the FIS Cup in Örnsköldsvik the second and fourth places as well as in Falun positions five and two.
After several unsuccessful Continental Cup competitions at the beginning of the 2010/11 season, where Balkåsen missed the second round at every jump, he succeeded in ski flying in Harrachov beginning of January 28th for the first time in his career to qualify for a World Cup competition. After he failed to reach the second round on the first day as the 37th he won as a 30 the next day for the first time in his career a World Cup point. At the Swedish Championships 2010 in Falun, he could win the title for the first time on the normal hill. In addition, he also won the team title with his club Holmen IF.
In the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo Balkåsen could achieve the qualification neither from the normal still on the large hill. In qualifying for the big hill he was even disqualified. At the Swedish Championships 2011 at the Hallstabacken in Sollefteå he won after last year's success on the normal hill now the title of the large hill. With the team of Holmen IF he took second place in the team competition.
After the season 2011/2012 Fredrik Balkåsen ended his international career.
