Freimann (Munich U-Bahn)

Metro Station Freimann the Munich subway was opened on 19 October 1971 and is one of the few Munich subway stations, which lie on the surface. It is located in the district of Schwabing- Freimann ( part of the district Freimann ) between the A9 and the Georg- Wopfner Street and is served by the U6 line.

It was rebuilt 2006-2009, he was the last station, which was not barrier-free. The originally intended name was Harnierplatz.

While work held no subways in the summer holidays in 2006 at the station, because the lining of the platform was removed, in order to rehabilitate the concrete. In 2007, the roof was renewed and started to build an additional southern staircase. Previously there was a access only at the north end; this leads to a mezzanine Georg- Wopfner Street. After two years, the new access was completed, and the northern entrance was renovated.

After the conversion

The end of 2009 the northern access could be reopened. About the newly constructed access at the south end of the station is accessed via a lift or stairs hard drive and either the Georg- Wopfner - road or by crossing a bridge over the tracks through an underpass to the other side of the A9. The platform was designed with granite counter tops and got a new roof, which is made of glass and on its mounts the fluorescent tubes are attached. The columns were covered with aluminum plates. In addition, a new control system was installed.
