Goetheplatz (Munich U-Bahn)

Metro Station Goethe Platz in Munich was opened on 19 October 1971, was until 1975 the terminus of the U3 and U6. He is a special station, as it is longer with 135 meters than all other stations with 120 meters. The train station is largely under the Lindwurmstraße and only the northern part is below the Goethe Square. The rear track walls consist of blue-gray fiber cement panels through which pulls the blue line tape. The columns were covered with tiles in various shades of green. The ceiling has no light band, but individual fluorescent tubes, are for the extra holes in the ceiling panel. The floor is covered with Isarkiesel motif, which is to reflect the light. At the southern end is reached via escalators lock floor and further Lindwurmstraße. At the northern end of the Goethe Platz can be reached. This station can be heard (over speaker) all day classical music.

The tunnel from Sendlinger gateway to Goethe space - including the train station - was already finished 1938-1941 under construction and should be an S -Bahn tunnel. The further work was stopped due to the war. The tunnel was used to build the subway again.
