Kieferngarten (Munich U-Bahn)

Metro Station Kieferngarten the Munich subway was opened on 19 October 1971, is located at the surface. He was until 1994 the northern terminus of the U6. It has four tracks, because from here there is a connection to the technical base in Froettmaning. Platform 1 is used by trains that continue coming from the city center to Froettmaning or to Garching that retentive to track 3 trains to the technical base. In the opposite direction propelled trains stop at the tracks 2 ( Garching ) and 4 ( from the depot ). The station is located in Freimann district next to the pine garden road, right next to a bus station. The blankets are made of concrete and aluminum fins. For the lamps specially recesses were left. The columns are clad in black tiles, the floor is covered with paving slabs. Just south of the station is 450 meters long Heidemann bridge on which the metro crosses the Heidemannstraße. The only entrance is located at the southern end, where rolling and fixed stairs as well as one elevator which is edged with blue glass, open up the two platforms. The planned name was Kieferngarten road.

The underground station is being modernized since 21 May 2013. Apart from increasing the platforms by 5 inches to allow barrier-free boarding, the roof is being refurbished and erected new emergency telephones.
