Location

History

Metro Station Obersendling was built according to plans by Joseph Karg and Manfred Kessler. The opening took place on 28 October 1989.

Architecture

The building has a platform, on the two sides run the tracks. The ceiling is covered with bright flat panels and illuminated. The walls show the uncased concrete piles as they were used to build the tunnel station. This design is possible because the train station is high above the ground and the walls therefore not need to be sealed especially against the ingress of water. The shell piles are painted brown rust, which forms a color contrast to the bright roof. Since this type of design allows for a low-cost and rapid construction, it served as a model for other tunnel stations.

Traffic

As an interchange station of Metro Station Obersendling offers connection to the S -Bahn lines 7, 20 and 27, however, is between the metro station and S-Bahn Station Siemenswerke a walk of about 400 meters in length.
