Geography

The municipality is located in the Upper Valley in Salem Linzgau middle of the Natural Park of Lake Constance Linzgau, about four kilometers north of Salem and about 10 kilometers north of Überlingen.

History

Archaeological finds indicate a settlement of the present municipal area as early as the Stone Age and later by the Celts. The origins of today's settlements are apparently in Alemannic time.

The place Frickingen was first documented in 1094 in Schaffhausen, in a font of the Monastery of All Saints. In the 13th century there was a castle, which was acquired in 1235 along with other possessions of the Bishop of Constance. From about 1300, the advocacies lay with the Counts of Berg- Heiligenberg, from 1534 to 1806, the mediatization territory belonged to the House of Fürstenberg. Then Frickingen belonged to Baden, the Frickingen the Badischer county Heiligenberg, later Überlingen then assigned. From 1939 Frickingen belonged to the district of Überlingen in the country's commissioner district of Konstanz. In 1952, the district of Überlingen was the District of South Baden in Baden- Württemberg incorporated. After the district reform on 1 January 1973 Frickingen went along with the municipalities of Altheim and Leustetten on as a new community Frickingen the newly formed Lake Constance in Baden- Württemberg. The Old Parish Frickingen consisted of the villages Frickingen and Bruckfelden, the tines Golpenweiler, Birch hamlet and Ricke meadows, the courts Ahäusle and Elisabethenhof ( Felderhof ) and the houses on Sandbühl / Postal ( Birch hamlet ), Gaiswinkel and Pfaff pond.

Today's church was re- formed on 1 January 1973 by the Association of Municipalities Altheim, Frickingen and Leustetten.

Districts

Besides Frickingen the part places Altheim, Bruckfelden and Leustetten belong to the municipality.

Altheim

To Altheim include the hamlet Gailhöfe and Rickertsweiler and the courts Bärweiler, Berghof, home of Hamlet, Pförendorf, Riedhof and climbing. Altheim was first mentioned in 1142 in the chronicle of the monastery Peterhausen. Largest landowner was the nunnery of Lindau. The lower courts have since the 13th century the Bishop of Constance. 1507 was the domination over the village to the imperial city of Überlingen, the Altheim managed almost 300 years. In the course of Reichsdeputationshauptschluss losing the place in 1806 came to Baden and establishment of the State of Baden- Württemberg in 1952 there.

Leustetten

To Leustetten heard the hamlet Steinberg, the tines Lampach and the homestead Finke Hausen. Leustetten was first mentioned in 1134 in the foundation charter of the monastery of Salem. Religions

  • CDU - 26.7 % ( - 9.4 ) - 3 seats (-1)

Mayor

A native of Frickingen Joachim Böttinger was elected on 8 April 1990 at the second ballot with 58.8 percent for the mayor and re-elected in 1998 and 2006. The position was vacant in 1990, as his predecessor Hans -Georg bosem mayor of Riedlingen was.

Community partnerships

Frickingen maintains a partnership with the Swiss community Frick, Canton Aargau. In addition, friendly relations with Dürrröhrsdorf -Dittersbach be maintained in Saxony.

Economy and infrastructure

The community Frickingen has received a agricultural character until today. Especially the fruit production plays an important role. There are 63 small burner (as of December 2011). In addition, tourism is increasingly gaining in importance as an economic factor. Finally, many residents commute to the surrounding larger cities or work in primarily medium-sized businesses. A major employer based in Frickingen is the company Schwelling Mechanical Engineering ( HSM GmbH Co. KG ). It provides balers ago ( large presses ), shredders and records destruction facilities and is partially leader of these products in Germany.

Traffic

The community is, inter alia, by bus connected to Überlingen and Salem and a member of the Upper Swabia Transport Association ( bodo ).

From 1905 to 1953 Frickingen had a connection to the Lake Belt railway, called Salemertal train. Only the old train station in Frickingen and the Bahnhofstrasse remember.

Through the municipal area, the fifth stage of the Jubilee path, a 111 km long trail that was marked for the 25th anniversary of the Lake Constance area in 1998 passes. It leads across six stages through the hinterland of Lake Constance from Kressborn about Neukirch, Meckenbeuren, Mark Village, Heiligenberg and Owingen to Überlingen.

Education

Frickingen has a primary school, a Catholic kindergarten and a Waldorf kindergarten in the district Altheim there is a municipal children's home with kindergarten and nursery and in Bruckfelden a residential special school for the disabled.

Culture and sights

The Vicus fruit trail offers many interesting facts about the apple cultivation. He leads more than four kilometers from the sports center through the orchards to the village.

Museums

  • The Lake Constance fruit Museum is located in the main town Frickingen behind the Town Hall. It provides information on the history and significance of fruit growing and offers many interesting facts about apples, pears, plums, cherries and other fruits.
  • The inventors workshop - museum in the village of Altheim was from 1896 to 2002 a workshop with sawing, milling and drilling machines. The museum is open from spring to fall on Sunday mornings. It shows the technique of transmission belts and informed about the types of drive water drive, steam engine, generator and gasoline engines.

Regular events

  • A regional attraction is the annual fall market with its extensive program dar.
  • At Easter fountain in all districts are elaborately decorated with Easter decorations.
  • Again, the Swabian- Alemannic Carnival is celebrated. There are the fools club Vicus dirt jumper and the fools club Altheimer dragon.
